- Start with a base knot on the thigh, near the knee. Tight enough to not slip. The tail of the rope should go inwards (towards the other leg) from the top.
- Spiral down coming out on the shin, avoiding knee bones.
- Spiral down once more coming over the outside of the ankle.
- Bring the rope between the big toe and first 2 toes.
- Point the foot at this point.
- Wrap it behind to the outside of the foot and around twice, coming back towards the ankle on the second wrap. This catches the stem.
- Go behind the foot and bring it between the last 3 toes to come back on top.
- Bring that under the stem towards the inside and wrap one more time. Key point we are now spiraling back up the leg in the opposite direction.
- Cross the stem and go back under and make a のの字, first going toward toes, under the stem again, then reversing back towards the ankle and under the stem.
- Wrap once more catching the heel then come behind the ankle to meet the original spiral on the shin
- Make a のの字 every time the ropes meet
- Finally tie off somewhere suitable.
Notes
- Rope goes through the toes in opposite directions. First from top to bottom, second from bottom to top.
- Make sure to spiral out in the right direction.
